Chaeryeong was born Lee Chaeryeong on June 5th, 2001 in Yongin, South Korea with older sister Chaeyeon (ex IZ*ONE member) and younger sister Chaemin. As a kid, Chaeryeong always dreamed of being a K-POP star since the moment she saw the girl group 'Girls' Generation' perform. She started to be passionate about dancing at a young age.

She starred as a contestant for SBS's competition show  'K-Pop Star 3' at age 13 with her older sister. Both sisters got eliminated, but they joined JYP Entertainment as trainees.

After a year of training as a trainee, Chaeryeong aged 14 along with her older sister join JYP Entertainment's girl group reality competition series 'SIXTEEN', which formed the girl group 'TWICE'. Chaeryeong ended up getting eliminated in the final episode of the series.

Years later, after spent 5 years training, Lee Chaeryeong was revealed as a member of the new girl group 'ITZY" on January 20th, 2019. She officially debuted on February 12th, 2019 with 4 co-members and close friends: Hwang Yeji, Choi Jisu (Lia), Shin Ryujin & Shin Yuna with the smash hit '달라달라(DALLA DALLA)' & ITZY's 1st single album 'IT'z Different'.

On July 10th, 2019, the group released their 1st comeback & mini album 'IT'z ICY' accompanied by the single 'ICY'. The music video for ICY reached 18M views within 24 hours. From then on, ITZY were dubbed as monster rookies.

ITZY would continue to release hit after hit, further cementing their place as the 4th gen leaders and the 3rd most famous Korean girl group worldwide with Chaeryeong as their main dancer and vocalist.
